According to reports in Germany, Bayern Munich will not be joining the race to sign Jude Bellingham this summer.
This is according to Christian Falk of BILD, who said that the rumours are not true and Bayern have shown no interest in the 16-year-old.
Bayern Munich Not Interested in Jude Bellingham
Agreement Made
He goes on to say that Bayern already know about an agreement that is in place between Borussia Dortmund and Bellingham.
This confirms a further report by ESPN which says that a deal has been agreed between Borussia Dortmund and the player which will see Dortmund pay £20 million for the midfielder.
The report goes onto say that Bellingham is unable to sign a professional contract until his 17th birthday on Monday, June 29th and that he will complete this season with Birmingham City.
Bellingham has been a target for Dortmund since the 2018/2019 season, with their reputation for introducing future stars to the Champions League and giving them regular playing time in the Bundesliga as the deciding factor.
Following in Jadon Sancho’s Footsteps
Dortmund have been known for doing exactly this and now either have or have sold many exciting young talents. First on the list is Jadon Sancho, who moved to the German club from Manchester City three years ago. This move has now seen him become one of the most valuable young players in world football. With 17 goals and 17 assists this season, he is showing why many of the big clubs in Europe are after his signature.
Erling Braut Haaland was a player linked with many clubs before he moved to Dortmund from RB Salzburg. The Norwegian has 13 goals and three assists since joining the German club in January, as his stock seems to rise in every game he’s played.
Gio Reyna has also started to come through the ranks at Dortmund since joining from New York City. Starting this season in the youth team, he was quickly promoted into the first team and made his Bundesliga debut in January 2020. Since then he has made 14 appearances in the league.
Finally, we have someone who Dortmund made into a star before selling on. Christian Pulisic signed a youth contract in 2015. He played in the Bundesliga nine times that season, where he scored two goals. For the three seasons to follow, he became a first-team regular, improving as the seasons went on. When Chelsea came calling, Dortmund couldn’t say no and the American signed for the Blues for £58 million on January 2019. He was loaned back to Dortmund for the rest of that season and made his Chelsea debut in August.
Manchester United Interested
Many clubs have been looking at Bellingham, but none more than Manchester United. They even went as far as giving him a tour of Carrington, to try and persuade the youngster.
Ole Gunnar Solskjaer wanted to get a deal done in January, however, nothing came of that. Now it looks like he could miss out altogether, due to the reported agreement that has been made with Dortmund.
