Wootton Rewarded for an Excellent Season

Scott Wootton initially joined the Pilgrims in 2018 but injuries hampered his first season. He couldn’t help Plymouth avoid relegation to League Two.

However, the former Milton Keynes Dons defender has played an integral role in their promotion campaign this season. Wootton made 34 appearances as he helped the Pilgrims secure an instant return to League One.

Speaking about Wootton’s new deal, manager Ryan Lowe said “I’m delighted that Scotty will be with us again next season.”

“Last year was a big one for him personally after the disappointment of the previous campaign but he showed plenty of leadership quality and is a big presence in the team.”

“He’s back in League One now and I’m looking forward to seeing him continue his good recent form for us.”

Conor Grant Also Rewarded for an Excellent Season

Like Wootton, midfielder Conor Grant also endured a difficult first season at Home Park. Grant joined Plymouth in 2018 after a decade at first club Everton. Injuries hampered his first season and like Wootton, he couldn’t help Plymouth avoid relegation.

However, he has played an integral role this season as Plymouth secured promotion. He made 21 appearances, scoring two goals including a brilliant strike against Mansfield Town which started Plymouth’s promotion charge.

Speaking about Grant’s new deal, manager Ryan Lowe said “We’re pleased for Conor, and delighted that he has signed on to stay at Argyle.”

“Conor has good technical ability, which we saw in spells last season. He now has an opportunity to push on and bring up his level of consistency.”

“He played his best football for Doncaster Rovers in League One, and I am hoping that he can fulfil his potential now we’re back there.”
