Approach Made

Several reports are suggesting that the recently relegated League One side have made an official approach for the Barrow manager.

According to The Bolton News, Bolton will have to pay £250,000 in compensation for Evatt. As a result, it has meant that negotiations have stalled slightly.

It is unsurprising that Barrow are demanding such a large figure for the 38-year-old, considering their recent promotion to League Two. They were confirmed as champions of the National League via points-per-game following the season’s curtailment.

Evatt is credited with the club’s turnaround in fortunes since his arrival. They have played a brand considered unusual for non-league football, looking to pass the ball out from the back instead of traditional route one football. However, it has worked, and has helped the Bluebirds return to the Football League after 48 years.

Promotion Will be the Aim for Bolton Wanderers Next Season

Following a turbulent last two seasons, Bolton will be hoping that they can finally have some success and earn promotion back to League One next season.

Keith Hill, who is leaving at the end of his contract on June 30, had a tremendously difficult job to try and keep them in League One.

Bolton began the season on -12 points after entering administration. However, Hill did not begin the season in charge, instead taking over at the end of August from Phil Parkinson.

With a virtually whole new squad – mixed with youth players that began the season – it was never going to be an easy task. They did win five games, but were unsurprisingly relegated.

However, now, there is hope for some stability. League Two will be a fresh start for the former Premier League club, although expectations will be high. They will be hoping that Evatt can lead them back to League One at the first attempt.
