Chelsea boss Frank Lampard says there has been no bid from the club for Bayer Leverkusen star Kai Havertz. The German sensation has been heavily linked with a move to the Blues for a while but the boss insists there has not been a formal bid lodged by the club.
Chelsea Have Not Bidded for Kai Havertz
‘A Top Player’
Lampard was speaking over Zoom at his press conference ahead of Chelsea’s game against Manchester City tomorrow night.
When asked if Chelsea were pursuing him, Lampard kept the answer brief, saying: “He is obviously a top player but we are not going to comment on players of other teams. No bids have gone in.”
Lampard: “There’s no bid by Chelsea for Bayer Leverkusen player Kai Havertz. He’s obviously a top player but we’re not in talks to sign him”.
As always said, it needs time and many clubs are interested. No one in advanced talks. ? #CFC #transfers

Chelsea’s front-line is already looking dangerous for next season. They completed the signing of Hakim Ziyech in the January transfer window and he will arrive ahead of next season. As well, the Blues have signed Timo Werner from RB Leipzig.
The addition of Havertz would have made their front three a daunting prospect for many other teams, particularly with those that have also performed well this season in reserve.
Whether Chelsea will continue to monitor Havertz is yet to be seen. Leverkusen have just one more game this season, Saturday’s home match against Mainz, so there could be a step up in any negotiations after that point.
The Blues are also reportedly keen on bringing in Leicester City left-back Ben Chilwell as Lampard looks to put his mark on the squad for next season.
