Liverpool edged themselves closer to league glory with a thunderous 4-0 win over Crystal Palace at Anfield. Goals from Trent Alexander-Arnold, Mohamed Salah, Fabinho and Sadio Mane meant Liverpool are on the verge of league glory.
It was the perfect response from Liverpool after their flat display in the Merseyside Derby three days ago. A dominant display from start to finish from Jurgen Klopp’s team.
The Brazilian Fabinho, in particular, enjoyed a terrific night. He was influential and certainly played his part in Liverpool’s rout. It was a difficult night for Roy Hodgson and his team.
Fabinho Inspires Liverpool To Thunderous Win Over Crystal Palace
A Goal and Assist For Fabinho on an Excellent Night For The Reds
Liverpool are on the verge of the league title after their sensational victory over Palace this evening. They were rampant from start to finish. Brazilian international Fabinho epitomised everything Jurgen Klopp would off asked for. Desire, commitment, endeavour, a dominant performance.
He got Liverpool going forward with a string of excellent passes and made himself the physical presence midfield. He was outstanding from start to finish at an empty Anfield. His passing from midfield was causing Crystal Palace all sorts of problems.
Unsurprisingly, Palace were punished when the Brazilian lobbed a perfect pass onto the chest of Salah before the Egyptian brilliantly converted. Fabinho’s efforts were soon rewarded when he struck a quite brilliant shot from outsides the box. The shot flew past Wayne Hennessey in a flash giving him no chance of saving it.
The Brazilian shone throughout the contest and certainly, he is getting better in the red of Liverpool.
A Tough Night For Crystal Palace
A trip to Anfield is always difficult for any side and certainly, Crystal Palace endured a tough night. Roy Hodgson’s team were dominated from start to finish.
In his eyes, Palace will have given away four disappointing goals. A cheap free-kick for Liverpool’s opener before Patrick van Aanholt allowed Salah space in the box. Failure to close down Fabinho and playing a defensive line which was far too high. A night of disappointment for Hodgson on his old stomping ground. However, there will be easier matches for Crystal Palace with Liverpool proving just too strong for the Eagles on this occasion.
Liverpool Need One More Win to End The 30-Year Wait
Victory this evening means Liverpool are one win away from the league title. The 30-year wait is almost over for the Reds. However, they could win the title tomorrow night if Manchester City fail to beat Chelsea.
If City do beat Chelsea then Liverpool will head to the Etihad Stadium in eight days’ time. Liverpool would only need to avoid defeat to ensure the title. Jurgen Klopp’s team are almost there and tonight’s victory was crucial and they did it in style.
