Swansea City have extended the contracts of five first-team players, allowing them to fulfil the remaining fixtures with the Championship side.

Five First-Team Swansea Players to See Season Finalé

The outcome of the five players extending their deals is that they will be available for the Swans remaining six league games.

The Welsh side are currently ninth in the Championship table, but just one point behind Preston North End, who occupy the final playoff spot.

As a result, the five players would be available for the playoffs should the Swans finish in the top six.

The Players

Wayne Routledge, Nathan Dyer, Mike van der Hoorn, Kyle Naughton and Erwin Mulder were due to be out of contract on June 30.

Routledge has scored three and provided four assists from 18 appearances, while Dyer has netted once and added two assists from his 12 games. Routledge, who has been with the Swans since 2011, has made 277 appearances for the Welsh side, while Dyer has made just shy of 350 since he joined in 2008.

Defenders van der Hoorn and Naughton have featured more, making 25 and 29 appearances respectively. Naughton has also found the net twice this season.

As for Mulder, the 31-year-old goalkeeper is yet to make an appearance this season despite making 27 outings last year.

Remaining Fixtures

Fresh off the back of a 3-0 win at struggling Middlesbrough, the Swans welcome another lowly team when Luton Town visit south Wales.

The Swans then face Millwall, a side currently just two points behind them, before facing two mid-table sides in Sheffield Wednesday and Birmingham City.

The final three fixtures are tricky. Second-placed Leeds visit before fifth-placed Nottingham Forest host the Welsh club. They end the season with a home game against promotion-chasing Bristol City before travelling to mid-table Reading on the final day.
