Real Madrid Face Valencia in a Crucial Clash
Second place Real Madrid face Valencia in the pick of the games. Zinedine Zidane’s team must win to maintain their title challenge as they continue to chase Barcelona. While Valencia need the victory to maintain their push for a Champions League spot.
Real Madrid have been struggling to find consistency in their performances and results. However, they were excellent against Eibar and Zidane will want kind of performance against tougher opposition. Los Blancos form has been inconsistent winning just two of their last five league games.
Valencia are unbeaten in three games but have drawn their last two matches. They will see that late Levante equaliser as an opportunity squandered with none of their rivals collecting a win. Albert Celades’ side know victory will heap the pressure on their rivals.
A crucial clash for both sides in a game renowned for entertainment.
Basque Derbies Dominate the Latest Matchday
Four of La Liga’s five Basque sides meet as Alaves welcome Real Sociedad and Athletic Bilbao travel to Eibar.
Real Sociedad head to Alaves with the real ambition of sneaking a Champions League spot. However, Imanol Alguacil will demand a response from his side after a lacklustre display against Osasuna. They stuttered to a point and missed a chance to level on points with fourth-place Getafe.
Alaves meanwhile, will be looking to respond to their disappointing loss to Espanyol. Asier Garitano’s side are not safe from relegation just yet but a derby win could be the perfect tonic to ignite a charge towards safety.
Athletic Bilbao head to Eibar needing a win to reignite a push for European football. Bilbao sit tenth in La Liga five points adrift of the European places. But they are fresh off an excellent point against Atletico Madrid.
This is a vital clash for Eibar who need the points to keep their heads above the relegation zone. Jose Mendilibar’s side head into this on the back of four defeats in their last five matches and a tough match against Real Madrid. Victory over Basque rivals Athletic Bilbao will give them a huge boost as they look to maintain their place in La Liga.
