Chris Martin has rejected the offer of a new contract from Derby County, according to Ryan Conway of The Athletic.

The offer that is currently on the table for the 31-year-old is the first offer from the club.
Currently, Martin is set to depart Pride Park at the end of this month. He has not signed a short-term extension to the end of the season, and the situation regarding players who are out of contract remains unclear.
According to The Athletic, both Derby and Martin are keen to see a deal struck. However, the Rams are not meeting the strikers demanded terms.
Derby have only offered a 12-month extension, which includes several bonuses, with the view to a further extension.
Derby Career
The Scotsman moved to Pride Park at the beginning of 2013, initially on loan. His displays his 13 game spell with the club earned him a two-year deal at the beginning of the 2013/14 season.
Martin’s most prolific spell with the club came in the four seasons that followed his permanent transfer. He scored 20 times during his first season with the club, while also registering eight assists, as the Rams narrowly missed out on automatic promotion.
His goalscoring continued across the next three seasons, as he scored 47 times for the club.
However, he has suffered mixed fortunes since, and has only returned into the foreground this season. Martin has impressed manager Philip Cocu, despite the plethora of strikers available to the Dutchman.
The Scotsman would undoubtedly provide experience to a young Derby County side. His Championship experience would aid Cocu’s project of helping the Rams try and return to the Premier League.
However, the Coronavirus pandemic could mean that Derby are looking to cut costs on player wages, meaning Martin may not remain at Pride Park.
