Newcastle’s Takeover Will Play a Pivotal Role

As Mike Ashley’s controversial 13-year tenure as Newcastle United owner seems to be coming to a much-anticipated finish, Newcastle fans have rejoiced at the prospect of a new owner.

The North-East side are close to finalizing negotiations with British businesswoman Amanda Staveley regarding the £300million takeover of Newcastle, which is firmly backed by Saudi Arabia’s Public Investment Fund (PIF), who are fronted by crown prince Mohammed bin Salman.

This proposed deal will skyrocket the Magpies to being one of the richest football clubs in the world, and as we know money equals power.

Newcastle fans now find themselves licking their lips at the numerous possibilities the club may achieve following this takeover, with the possibility of signing stars such as Philippe Coutinho standing out.

Bayern Have Decided Not to Purchase Coutinho

Following his successful loan spell at the German powerhouses, Bayern have somewhat ‘surprisingly’ gone against signing the Brazillian playmaker, however, injury problems have undoubtedly played a factor in this decision.

Nine goals & eight assists in thirty-two games for the German champions was not enough to win the clubs hierarchy over, as Coutinho will now return to Barcelona at the end of June.

This is when the numerous suitors plan to swoop in for £71m star’s much sought after signature, with Newcastle looking the likely front runners in this race to sign the former Liverpool attacker.

Newcastle Not the Only Club Interested in Coutinho

Often unplayable on his day, Coutinho found it hard to settle at the Camp Nou following his big-money move from Liverpool in January 2018.

All Premier League sides know the talent this man possesses, so it is no doubt that Newcastle will have their hands full in trying to secure Coutinho this summer.

Reports suggest Arsenal, Chelsea and even Spurs have kept a keen eye over the Brazillian in the past weeks, although it is at Newcastle where Coutinho has been dubbed the number one target.

Outlining their intentions and long-term objectives, Newcastle are aiming for a dynasty, with both Mauricio Pochettino and Rafa Benitez being courted as potential replacements for Steve Bruce.

Two managers who would gladly welcome Coutinho at the club, where he could once again flourish as he did for Liverpool not so long ago.
