From Academy to Starter

Rodak has come through the academy with the London club, being part of the only Fulham side to reach the final of the FA Youth Cup.

The 23-year-old has enjoyed a breakout season in 2019/20 following Fulham’s relegation from the Premier League. Last season’s mainstay, Sergio Rico, returned to Sevilla after his loan spell ended and Marcus Bettinelli, who has been called up to the senior England squad as recently as 2018, has been kept out of the side by Rodak.

Rodak, who spent the 2017/18 and 2018/19 seasons on loan at Rotherham United, has also received international recognition, being called up to Slovakia’s senior squad in 2018. However, he did not make an appearance.

In this campaign, Rodak has kept ten clean sheets in 24 outings, while he has been voted Man of the Match on four occasions – only behind Aleksandar Mitrovic.

His performances this season have resulted in Fulham sitting third, behind Leeds United and West Bromwich Albion, prior to the season being suspended.

What Was Said

Speaking to the club website about his new deal, Rodak said: “I’m really happy to sign and stay here, and now I’m just looking forward to the future.

“It’s nice that the club trusts me, and I hope that the fans see it as good news! I know Betts [Bettinelli] is a big favourite of the fans so they maybe weren’t too sure about me at first, but they’ve stuck with me and I like to think they’re happy with me. I’d like to thank them for backing me up, and hopefully I’ve been good for them.”
