Manchester United Search for a Striker
Manchester United have been searching for a striker for some time; it will be a priority position come the summer.
Romelu Lukaku, whose time at Manchester United had not been as successful as that of Everton, left in the summer; he joined Inter Milan for £74 million. The Red Devils have since been looking into a replacement.
Last summer, Paulo Dybala nearly signed for the Red Devils. But, Lukaku’s choosing of Inter over rivals Juventus meant that the deal did not go through. Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s strong idea of what a Manchester United player should look like was why they did not want to rush into a signing, and Anthony Martial took over the position.
In January there was even more of a desire to buy a centre-forward, with Marcus Rashford, their top goalscorer having injured himself for some months.
Edinson Cavani and Carlos Tevez were among those linked with United. But, they ended up settling for Odion Ighalo, who has defied all expectations fo impress at Old Trafford. Milik was another of the players they considered making a move for. However, with a £60 million price tag, Manchester United looked elsewhere.
This summer, they will look for a world-class permanent replacement for Lukaku, having shown interest in Antoine Griezmann and Erling Braut Håland. In addition, Milik could prove another option. Napoli’s latest move makes it even more interesting.
Napoli Make Interesting Arkadiusz Milik Move
Napoli’s recent move was to lower the value of their striker.
The Coronavirus has ripped apart the world of football and delved many teams into difficult financial situations. Many clubs have lowered their asking price for players, such as Arsenal and star striker Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang, and Napoli will do the same.
They now want just £30 million for him, according to the report, which would be an extraordinary bargain should the Red Devils make it work. And, with Milik having previously said that he supports the Red Devils, it may well do so.
