Erling Haaland Reveals how Manchester United can Sign him
United’s Previous Interest
Manchester United’s interest in Erling Haaland is not new.
At the beginning of the season, he shocked the world at former club Red Bull Salzburg.
The 19-year-old managed an incredible 16 goals in 14 league appearances for the Austrian side, and assisted six as well. While that division is not particularly challenging, the Champions League certainly is, but Haaland was equally successful there. The Norwegian scored eight goals in six appearances in Europe’s most prestigious club competition, attracting interest from all of Europe’s most elite sides.
Among these were Manchester United and Borussia Dortmund, both of whom ended up competing for his signature.
While United had a very good shot, with Ole Gunnar Solskjaer as his former coach from Molde FK in Norway, and a very promising young team, he chose Borussia Dortmund.
This has turned out very well for him.
Haaland’s form has not slowed since moving to a more challenging league. Alongside fellow United target Jadon Sancho, the Norwegian has netted nine times in the league. With eight appearances and five starts, this gives him roughly a goal every 55 minutes, which is a truly exceptional record for any striker, not least a teenager.
Interest Ongoing
United and Real Madrid are two of the giants interested in signing him from BVB, and Haaland had this to say to them.
“You’ve got to time how good you are, how good the club is, the people there, how they take care of you, how they help you evolve.
“There are a lot of factors and I remember when we discussed Salzburg and different clubs we figured out very early that Salzburg was the best option.
”And I’ve always thought ‘I can’t overrate myself’. That has always been important to me, saying, ‘yes, I’m good, but there’s a lot of good players out there’, so that has always been very important to me, to not think I’m better than I actually am.”
