Arsenal Interested in Layvin Kurzawa
Will Kurzawa Wait for Barcelona to Make a Move?
Barcelona still remains the preferred destination for Kurzawa and negotiations are ongoing according to Lluís Miguelsanz Spanish media from Sport.
The Catalan club want to sell full-back Junior Firpo before making a move of Kurzawa to free up space at left-back, so Kurzawa can compete with Jordi Alba.
However, Arsenal hope to profit from the hesitancy of the Catalan club by preparing their own offer for the Frenchman.
The Gunners were heavily linked with Kurzawa during the January transfer window but a deal didn’t materialise before deadline day.
Free Transfer
27-year-old Kurzawa can leave PSG on a free transfer from July. His contract expires in June and it’s unlikely he will stay at the club.
The Frenchman’s availability sparked plenty of interest from around Europe. Liverpool and Napoli or also keeping tabs in Kurzawa in addition to Arsenal and Barcelona.
Barcelona appeared to be leading the chase for Kurzawa. But their lack of commitment towards a deal gives Mikel Arteta and opportunity to make a bid for the former Monaco defender.
Kurzawa played 23 matches for PSG this year but he struggled to secure his position as first-choice left-back. Juan Bernat is the preferred option.
Kurzawa an Adequate fit for Arsenal
Kurzawa would provide some much-needed experience for Mikel Arteta at Arsenal, so it’s no surprise the North London club are keen to sign the 27-year-old.
Arsenal conceded 36 goals in 28 games prior to the suspension of the Premier League in March. It is evident that Arteta wants to improve in defence over the summer.
The Frenchman’s attacking ability would also be key for Arteta. He contributed with 13 goals and 21 assists in his three seasons at PSG.
The Gunner’s options at full-back were affected by injury this season. Summer signing Kieran Tierney suffered multiple injuries. As a result, the Scotland international only made 11 appearances for Arsenal this season.
Versatile player Sead Kolašinac filled in at left-back for much of the season, playing 20 games in this position.
