What Happens if he Stays?
Regarding transfers, Paul Pogba could help Manchester United greatly. Not to mention his undoubted ability, the Frenchman is also a great attraction for transfer targets. To have one of the best midfielders in the world in your ranks, whether they have managed to maintain consistent form or not, will always make the ears of the world’s top players prick up.
French football journalist Julien Laurens reported that Antoine Griezmann would consider a move to Manchester, provided he got to play with France teammate Pogba. The pair won the World Cup together in 2018, and Griezmann, who has not impressed since moving to Barcelona last summer, may be on his way out of the Camp Nou as soon as the end of this campaign. Furthermore, with much financial uncertainty having hit the world of football, and Barcelona among the big teams worst affected, they may need to offload more players to fund the return of Neymar which they so desperately want.
And if he Leaves?
While Pogba’s departure would be less of an attraction for some players, it would allow United to make a move for those already interested. Three names immediately come to mind.
Jadon Sancho is the Red Devils’ top transfer target for the summer. The Englishman is currently working wonders for Borussia Dortmund in the Bundesliga and would be an incredible addition to the already talented Manchester United side. The downfall is the price, and although United can afford the estimated £120 million he would cost, it would leave very little for any other moves.
One of the other transfers which the Manchester club are looking to make in the summer is Jack Grealish. Although recent events, and less need for the Aston Villa star, mean that they are not as likely to go all-out on signing him, Grealish would still be a good addition. He could provide competition in the midfield, but the money for buying him would likely come from selling Pogba.
Although this would be far less expensive than the other two, Jude Bellingham would still cost United a hefty £30 million. The 16-year-old is one of the most promising talents in the world at the moment, but United may rely on selling Pogba to fund that move.
