Manchester City have come under fire from UEFA once again, this time being fined €3,000 by the governing body due to an issue with their kit from last month’s Champions League win against Real Madrid, according to Simon Bajkowski of the Manchester Evening News.

That amount of money is nothing for a club like Manchester City. It begs the question as to whether UEFA’s fines need to be stricter if they really want to clamp down on clubs breaking the rules.
The Sky Blues are deemed to have committed the infringement with their non-playing tops. UEFA’s equipment rules state that “only one single piece of sponsor advertising is permitted, in the following maximum sizes:
- 20cm squared on anthem jackets
- 200cm squared on all other non-playing attire tops.”
City will likely accept the fine and swiftly move on, not letting it put a dent in the magical performance they produced that night.
Isco had put the Spanish side ahead at the Bernabeu, but goals from Gabriel Jesus and Kevin De Bruyne turned the game around and handed City a vital advantage going into the second leg.
No Sign of When Second Leg Will Be
With football currently suspended, though, it’s currently unknown when that second leg will be.
Aleksander Ceferin, UEFA president, has warned that the season could be lost of completely if it does not resume by the end of June. However, competition organisers are trying to find the best way of resuming the season when it is safe to do so.
A videoconference meeting later this week has been scheduled to make this decision as well as look at the issue of player contracts and the transfer system if the campaign is going to continue.
