Juventus are set to make a tempting offer for Manchester United midfielder Paul Pogba, according to Italian publication Tuttosport.

Juventus Set to Bid for Manchester United Midfielder Paul Pogba

Paul Pogba’s Career so Far

After going through the academy at United, Pogba moved to Juventus in 2012 on a free transfer. In Italy, the Frenchman turned into one of the best midfielders in the world, attracting the interest of his boyhood club.

The Red Devils paid a then world-record fee for Pogba to return to Manchester in the summer of 2016. The price, £89 million, meant that upon his arrival fans expected him to have an immediate impact on the team, and help in their bid to start challenging for titles again.

Despite the lofty expectations, he did not.

His first season at United saw them finish in sixth place under new manager Jose Mourinho.  A Europa League win partially made up for this, however, the season overall was not particularly successful, and Pogba certainly did not have the desired effect.

Since then, the 27-year-old has struggled with injury.

Last campaign was his best, scoring 13 Premier League goals, but he has not had the chance to continue that run of form this season, with a recurring ankle injury hindering his progress.

Although it may make sense to cash in on him now, it could also be a good idea to keep him for another season to see if he can get back into the form he was in while he was at Juventus, and in 2018/19.

The Offer

Juventus want the Frenchman back in Turin, and they are willing to offer a lot to get that. Although United reportedly value him at around £100 million going into the summer transfer window, the Italian side are looking for a player plus cash deal. The Black and Whites are offering Paulo Dybala or Miralem Pjanic, plus £55 million, according to the report.

Last summer, United held talks with Dybala, but they narrowly missed out on a deal. United are looking for, among other positions, a striker in the summer, and Dybala could fill that spot.

Pjanic would be more of a direct replacement, and with £55 million on the table as well, it is an intriguing offer.
