Real Madrid Considering Shock Move for Crystal Palace Striker Alexander Sorloth

Alexander Sorloth Was a Flop at Crystal Palace

After impressing at Danish side FC Midtjylland, Sorloth earned himself a move to the Premier League. He looked to be a future star, having shown great promise, he never lived up to the high expectations.

He joined in January 2018 but appeared in just four games for Palace that season, all of which ended in losses. In the following campaign, the Norwegian did his record no favours. By January of 2019, he had netted just once in 20 appearances for his new side, with his only goal coming against Championship opposition in Swansea City.

Less than a year after signing for Palace, the 24-year-old left on his first loan spell, which lasted for the remainder of the 2018/19 season. On loan with KAA Gent in Belgium, he hardly improved. In his 22 appearances there, he scored just five times and returned to London surely to go down as a failed signing.

Successful in Turkey

Despite his being extremely unsuccessful since moving to Crystal Palace, Turkish team Trabzonspor agreed a two-year loan deal with the Eagles last summer. Competing with Daniel Sturridge to be the first-choice striker, Sorloth has done tremendously well. So far this season he has scored 19 goals and registered six assists in 26 Super Lig appearances, seeing his market value triple. As a result, he attracted some interest from Europe’s top clubs.

Interest From Real Madrid

Real Madrid are interested in signing a striker this summer. Although Erling Haaland is their main target, he is not available until 2021, so Sorloth may become one of Real’s priorities. He, along with Haaland, is part of an extremely exciting Norway national team, and Los Blancos would love to see that develop at their history-rich club.
