REPORT: Paris Saint-Germain Make €100,000 Donation to Coronavirus Fight

Ligue 1 side Paris Saint-Germain have made a €100,000 donation to help fight Coronavirus in France, according to BBC Sport. This equates to roughly £91,000.

The money donated by the club will go towards providing aid support for children, the elderly and the homeless in France who have been affected by the virus. In addition, it will be used to support front-line doctors and to help train up volunteers to assist as the illness continues to spread.

There have been more than 1,300 deaths in France and the country has the fifth-highest mortality rate from Coronavirus.

Thierry Robert, CEO of Secours Populaire, the charity receiving the donation, said: “The Secours Populaire Francais and our 80,000 volunteer coordinator/fundraisers are very grateful for the support of Paris St-Germain.

“Once again, Paris St-Germain is responding to a call from our charity to help those victims of poverty or social exclusion.

“This support will enable the Secours Populaire Francais to act quickly to relieve the suffering of those most affected by the consequences of this unprecedented crisis.”

Special Shirt

The club have also released a special short sporting the phrase Tous Unis on the front, which translates to ‘All Together’.

It also bares the logo of Assistance Publique – Paris Hospitals (AP-HP). The funds raised will go towards supporting healthcare professionals.

There are 1,500 of the limited edition shirts on sale for €175 each.

 

President and CEO of the club Nasser Al-Khelaifi said: “We cannot be grateful enough for the tremendous and courageous work that healthcare staff are doing every day to deal with this emergency.

“These extraordinary women and men are an example to us all. The struggle will be long, and the club would like to help them with what they need most of all: to rest, eat and share a few moments of comfort with their loved ones.”
