Daniel James is one of Manchester United’s most exciting prospects. The Welshman starts virtually every game for the Red Devils and, at the age of just 22, he looks to have a very promising career ahead of him. James arrived from Swansea in the summer for, what now seems like a bargain at £15m, and made an immediate mark on Manchester. Although he had an extremely successful start to his United career, James’ goal scoring form has worn off. Despite this, he is still a quality player. Impressive Start
James had an extremely impressive start to life in the Premier League. The opening four games in the Premier League saw the Welshman bag three goals. While he is lightening fast, he was also able to provide United with the end product. It looked that the Red Devils had a future legend on their hands.

Although his scoring form has stalled, James is still a quality player. His pace has helped United immeasurably in counter attacking, especially in victories over ‘big six’ teams, such as a league double over Manchester City. Furthermore, he is the Red Devils’ top assist maker, with six to his name in the league this season.
James also scored his first goal since August on Thursday night in Manchester United’s 5-0 thrashing of LASK behind closed doors in the Europa League. His form could be looking up following that, despite the suspension of both the Premier League and UEFA competitions due to the Coronavirus. The former Swansea winger has played especially well in United’s recent run of positive results, showing that he has the capacity to play regularly in the Premier League.

While James impressed in his first few games for United, this did not last long, and James has not provided United with the quality they need.
The youngster has certainly helped United with his pace, but burned out after his opening four games. He has not scored in the league since August, and doesn’t have an assist in 2020, having looked tired for much of the new year. Furthermore, his decision making has shown to be poor, and it is certainly a weak part of his game.
James certainly looks to be a player of the future, but he may not be good enough to be one of the present.
