Currently Out on Loan

The 23-year-old is currently on loan at Championship side Charlton Athletic. Despite the mounting problems at The Valley and the threat of relegation, Cullen has impressed for Lee Bowyer’s side.

It is his second season on loan with the Addicks, having helped them achieved promotion to the Championship last season. He registered four assists and scored just once last season, as Charlton were promoted via the play-offs.

So far this season, he has just one goal and one assist from 25 appearances. However, he has remained as one of Charlton’s key players, as they have struggled for consistent form.

The Irish international is currently operating as a defensive midfielder in Lee Bowyer’s side. His defensive statistics make for excellent reading, registering almost two tackles per game on average, as nearly two interceptions per game.

Leeds United Lead the Chase as Other Clubs Circle

Championship promotion-contenders Leeds are not the only looking to sign Cullen. According to the report, Marcelo Bielsa’s side are joined by Bournemouth, Norwich City and West Brom in the chase to sign the West Ham midfielder.

Both Leeds and West Brom could be deemed as an attractive option for the 23-year-old. Automatic promotion from the Championship looks to be on the cards for both clubs, as it has been for much of the season. Leeds currently lead the Baggies by a point, while there is then a six-point gap down to Fulham in third place.

In contrast, Bournemouth and Norwich are facing the threat of relegation from the Premier League. Both sides are currently in the relegation zone.

As a result, Cullen may not want to continue in the Championship, and look to test himself in the Premier League.
