Everton are reportedly set to reward the recent form of Dominic Calvert-Lewin with the offer of a five-year deal at the club, according to Paul Joyce of The Times. Calvert-Lewin has hit 13 goals in 26 games this season, already more than doubling his goals from the previous campaign.
Dominic Calvert-Lewin Set to Be Offered New Deal
Resurgence Under Carlo Ancelotti
The 22-year-old has often found consistency hard to come by at Everton. However, since Carlo Ancelotti took over from the sacked Marco Silva, a slight change in formation has seen Calvert-Lewin become the side’s focal point, and it’s paying dividends.
Since the Italian’s appointment, Calvert-Lewin has struck eight times in the Premier League, bagging one assist, and only not played the full 90 minutes once – he was subbed off on 73 minutes in the away win at Watford.
Calvert-Lewin is set to follow Mason Holgate in signing a new deal, as his fellow Englishman signed a five-year contract with the Toffees earlier this week.
In Talks With a Defender
In other Everton news, Tom Kershaw of The Independent reports that the club are in talks with Lille defender Gabriel Magalhaes.
The Brazilian was the subject of interest from both Arsenal and Tottenham Hotspur in January, and several other Premier League sides have retained an interest in the player.
Magalhaes would bring Champions League experience to the club, having featured in both of this season’s group games against Chelsea earlier in the campaign.
He signed a new deal with the club due to the interest from other sides, which saw the contract extended until 2023. However, it is believed Lille will let him go if a bid in the region of £25-30 million is received.
A signing like this would certainly match up with Everton’s aspirations of reaching European football under Ancelotti. The way they’re going, there’s every chance they could snatch it at the end of the current season.
