Cardiff City to Be Without Striker Isaac Vassell for Remainder of the Season

Terrible Injury Luck Continues

This new injury to Vassell is said to be different from the one suffered at the start of the season. The 26-year-old, who joined from Birmingham City in the summer, has made just three appearances this season. Two of those came in the Championship, where he scored against Luton Town, and another came in the 3-0 League Cup defeat to the Hatters later that month.

The striker started his career with Plymouth Argyle and had loan spells at Truro City, Bideford and Weymouth before signing permanently for Truro in 2014. He sealed a move to the Football League with Luton in 2016 before moving onto Birmingham a year later.

Cardiff manager Harris said: “It’s horrible. We’ve just had the news that his season is over. It’s the same injury [quad], but a different leg this time. Your heart goes out to him. He’s a young lad that just wants to play football. It’s been great having him in the group and seeing him grow in recent months. It’s a shame.”

“Unfortunately for him at the moment, he’s having no luck. Any first-team minutes this season would’ve been a bonus for him this season. But now we will work hard to get him involved in pre-season.”

The Bluebirds go up against relegation-threatened Barnsley this weekend with a chance to close the gap on the play-off spots to just two points. The Tykes, meanwhile, sit second bottom but have three wins from their last five games, leaving them in a good position to haul themselves away from the danger zone.
