West Bromwich Albion have confirmed that they have signed right-back Lee Peltier from Cardiff City on a deal until the end of the season.
West Bromwich Albion Sign Lee Peltier From Cardiff City
What Was Said
Speaking about the arrival of Peltier to the official West Brom website, Luke Dowling, sporting and technical director at the club, said: “Lee will provide tough, proven experience and ‘know-how’ for us across a variety of roles in defence.
“He was a key figure in Neil Warnock’s team and knows what it takes to get promoted from this division.
“We felt we needed some cover and once we knew Lee would be available it made good sense to bring him in.”
Vital Experience For Promotion Run In
The 33-year-old’s experience will prove vital for Slaven Bilic’s side as they look to earn promotion back to the Premier League.
Peltier made 20 appearances for his previous club Cardiff City last season in the top-flight and helped them earn promotion in the 2017/18 campaign.
He had already featured 25 times for the Bluebirds during the first half of the season, before making the move to the Hawthorns.
It is the Championship where Peltier has spent 10 of his last seasons in his career.
The 2011/12 season saw him play at right-back for Leicester City, making 40 appearances in all competitions before joining Leeds United.
Peltier endured a two-season spell at Elland Road, making 66 appearances.
Following his time with Leeds, he had one-year spells with both Nottingham Forest and Huddersfield, before settling again with Cardiff City.
He remained with the Bluebirds up until joining the Baggies. During his time at the Cardiff City Stadium he made 159 appearances in all competitions.
As a result, Peltier could prove a good addition for West Bromwich Albion, who are hoping to return to the top of the Championship this weekend at home to Luton Town.
