Leicester City have signed defender Ryan Bennett on loan from Wolverhampton Wanderers for the rest of the season.
Leicester City Sign Defender Ryan Bennett
The Deal
Leicester announced via their website they had signed the defender. Bennett arrives on loan from Wolves for the remainder of the season.
The deal is an initial loan with an option to buy him in the summer. The defender is an experienced Premier League player and Brendan Rodgers will be delighted to have him on board.
Bennett started his career at Grimsby Town before joining Peterborough United. He became a Premier League regular for Norwich City when he joined them in 2012 helping them to promotion before stabilising as a Premier League club.
He joined Wolves in 2017 and has played an important role in Wolves’ meteoric rise from the Championship to the Premier League and Europa League. Bennett joins a Leicester side looking to secure their place in the top four.
Brendan Rodgers has been searching for a centre back throughout January, with only Caglar Soyuncu and Jonny Evans available to him. Wes Morgan continues to battle injuries meaning Rodgers needs defensive cover.
Ryan Bennett is certainly an excellent deputy and brings plenty of experience. His game time has become limited at Wolves with Nuno Espirito Santo preferring to use Romain Saiss and Leander Dendoncker in the back three.
The defender is unlikely to feature against Chelsea tomorrow. Bennett is more likely to be involved against Manchester City on the 22nd of February. His debut is late because Leicester are due to play Wolves after Chelsea and the winter break also takes effect.
