Grimsby Sign Defender Bradley Garmston
The Deal
Grimsby announced via their website they had signed the defender. Garmston arrives on a free transfer after he was released by Gillingham earlier today. He has signed a deal until the end of the season.
Garmston began his career at West Bromwich Albion spending three years at the club. He joined Gillingham on loan before making that permanent in 2015. He was a regular fixture in this side but has struggled to break into Steve Evans’ team. He made over 100 appearances for the Kent club and now is ready for a new challenge with Grimsby.
Garmston arrives as Ian Holloway’s fifth signing since taking over the Mariners in December. Grimsby has vastly improved since Holloway arrived with Grimsby aiming to secure a top half finish. His signings all have made a positive impact. Garmston will hope to do the same in the final months of the season to earn a longer deal.
The left-back has also represented the Republic of Ireland at various youth levels but has yet to earn a senior cap. Garmston has impressed in League One for the Gills and he will be confident he can impress in League Two.
The full-back cannot play against Forest Green Rovers tomorrow due to signing after the eligibility deadline. His debut will come in their next league game in eight days’ time.
He is a shrewd signing from Ian Holloway as Grimsby continue to climb the League Two table. Garmston arrives determined to prove his worth and continue to grow as a footballer. At 26, he has his best years to come and certainly he could prove to be a top piece of business from Grimsby
