The Deals
Fleetwood announced via their website they had signed the players. McKay arrives on loan from Swansea for the rest of the season.
The winger arrives after 18 months at Swansea where he made 34 appearances. Prior to joining Swansea, the Scotsman came through the ranks at Rangers and went on to play over 100 times for the Scottish giants. A move to Nottingham Forest subsequently followed in 2017, where he played 28 times, scoring five goals in England’s second tier.
He drops into League One looking for some much-needed game time. Speaking to the Fleetwood website about his new signing, Joey Barton said: “Barrie is a creative attacker who will provide a real spark in our squad.
“He’s a tricky player who has the ability to go past players, create chances and score goals, so he’s absolutely what we’ve been after.
“We look forward to him joining up with the squad and making an impact on the pitch.”
Isak Throvaldsson Also Arrives on Loan
Iceland’s U19s captain Throvaldsson arrives on loan for the rest of the season from Norwich.
The midfielder will go out on loan for the first time as he looks to continue his football education. He is combative midfielder ready for the physicality of League One.
Speaking to the Fleetwood website about Throvaldsson, Barton said: “Isak is a player that we have been watching for a while, and when the chance came to bring him to our club, we jumped at it.
“He’s a tough-tackling midfielder, who will bring competition to our squad. He’s impressed in Norwich’s U23s despite only being 18, and we look forward to seeing him bring that form into our group.”
