Coventry City Sign Ryan Giles
The Deal
Coventry announced via their website they had signed the defender. Giles arrives on loan for the remainder of the season from Wolves.
The versatile youngster is Coventry’s first January signing and is ready to help the Sky Blues seal promotion to the Championship. Giles spent the first half of the season on loan at Shrewsbury Town.
However, the Premier League side have decided to send him out on loan once again. He joins a Coventry side fighting for promotion to the Championship. He made 25 appearances for Shrewsbury scoring one goal in a crucial win against Portsmouth on his debut.
The 20-year-old is highly regarded at Wolves and they want him to continue his football education in League One.
He is not eligible for tomorrow’s game against Bristol Rovers or Tuesday’s FA Cup replay against Birmingham City. His debut will come in their next league game against Bolton Wanderers in eight days time.
What Was Said
Speaking to the Coventry website about his new signing, manager Mark Robins said: “I know I said we were not going to sign anybody earlier in our press conference, but the opportunity to sign Ryan came to us late this afternoon.
“He is a player who has been within our Recruitment process and who we’ve been aware of for the last two years, and we are delighted that he will now join us.
“He is a left-sided player, who has great versatility and can play in a number of positions.
“Ryan is a creative player with great technical ability and will add pace and dynamism to our attacking play.”
