Cardiff City have confirmed that they have signed defender Dion Sanderson on loan from Wolverhampton Wanderers until the end of the season.
Cardiff City Sign Dion Sanderson
Career So Far
Sanderson has made just one appearances for Wolves during his career at Molineux. That came earlier this season, playing 90 minutes in a 2-1 defeat to Aston Villa in the League Cup.
The 20-year-old has also featured on the bench twice for Nuno Espirito Santo’s side in his senior career so far.
However, Sanderson has been a key figure for Wolves’ U23’s this season, featuring 13 times in the heart of defence.
Dion Sanderson is Third Signing of the Window for Cardiff City
The young defender is the third signing of the window for Cardiff, as he joins Brad Smith and Albert Adomah through the doors of the Cardiff City Stadium.
Smith has joined the Bluebirds on loan until the end of the season from Bournemouth. Similar to Sanderson, Smith will provide defensive cover for Neil Harris’ side.
Albert Adomah has also joined on loan from fellow Championship side Nottingham Forest. The Ghanaian has been used as a substitute by Forest boss Sabri Lamouchi for much of the season, with five of his 24 league appearances coming from the bench.
What Was Said
Speaking to the official Cardiff City website, manager Neil Harris said: “I wanted to bring in some youthfulness and some energy and we’ve managed to do that with Dion.
“I’ve said that we need cover in the full-back area, and Dion gives us that.
“He wants to work and train hard, and I’m looking forward to working with him.”
Cardiff are currently one of several contenders for the play-off places in the Championship. Despite currently sitting in 11th place, they are one four points off of Bristol City in sixth place.
