Bristol Rovers Sign James Daly from Crystal Palace
The Deal
Bristol Rovers announced via their website they had signed the striker. Daly arrives for an undisclosed fee signing a two-and-half-year deal at the Memorial Stadium.
Daly is known to manager Ben Garner having worked with him at Palace. He is a highly talented forward ready to take League One by storm.
Daly joined the Eagles as a teenager at U14 level and developed into a versatile, left-footed player. At the age of 16, the striker caught attention with a healthy tally of goals for the Palace U18s, which resulted in the forward being promoted to the development squad. T
he youngster continued to show an aptitude for goals in the reserve squad, tallying nine goals in just 13 appearances during the 2017/18 season, which saw him win the accolade of Palace’s Scholar of the Year award.
The striker was on the Crystal Palace bench several times but never made a senior appearance for the Eagles. He will hope to get the game time under a manager who knows what he is all about.
He wasn’t signed in time to make his debut in tomorrow’s game against Coventry City, but could make his debut in eight days’ time in Rovers’ next game.
What Was Said
Speaking to the Bristol Rovers website about his new signing, manager Ben Garner said: “James joins us on a permanent transfer from Crystal Palace and we are very happy to add him to our squad.
“He is a quick, versatile forward with great desire and a really high work ethic. James has an excellent goalscoring record at Under 18 & Under 23 level. Crystal Palace is a club I know well & he comes highly regarded.”
