AFC Wimbledon have signed striker Julian Lamy. The striker arrives on loan from Rotherham United for the rest of the season and arrives as the club’s first signing of the day.
AFC Wimbledon Sign Striker Julian Lamy
The Deal
AFC Wimbledon announced via their website they had signed the striker. Lamy arrives on loan for the remainder of the season tasked with firing the goals to keep them in League One.
Lamy began his career in France before earning a contract at Rotherham after a successful trial period.
Lamy will fill the void left by Marcus Forss, who has returned to Brentford following his season-ending injury. Game time has been limited for Lamy at Rotherham. He has made just five appearances this season.
Lamy arrives hoping to make an impact having struggled to impress Paul Warne at Rotherham. He will team with Joe Pigott in the AFC Wimbledon attack. Both need to find their shooting boots as Wimbledon continue to hover dangerously above the relegation zone.
The striker hasn’t signed in time to feature against Accrington Stanley but certainly, he is a big boost for the club. The loss of Marcus Forss is a huge blow but Glyn Hodges will be confident Lamy can take on the mantle.
What Was Said
Speaking to the club website about his new signing, manager Glyn Hodges said: “Julien can pay anywhere up front, including off the frontman or alongside another forward, and he can also play on the wing.
“He is an exciting player, who is quick and has an eye for goal. We have received good reports about Julien. He has not been getting in the Rotherham team, but he has been in the squads and has played in League One this season. He gives us options and will provide another dimension in attack.”
