The Deal
Swindon announced via their website they had re-signed League Two’s top scorer. Doyle returns to Swindon on a permanent deal for an undisclosed fee from Bradford City. He has agreed a contract until the end of the season.
The Northern Irishman has excelled under Richie Wellens, scoring 23 goals in 22 league games. However, he was recalled by Bradford at the start of the window in the likelihood he would spearhead Bradford’s promotion charge.
However, the two clubs have agreed a fee and now the prolific front-man returns to Swindon.
It has been a terrific couple of days for Swindon, with Jerry Yates and Eoin Doyle returning to the club after being recalled by their parent clubs.
Doyle is a firm fans favourite and they will be absolutely delighted to see him back. He is set to make his second debut in their top of the table clash with Exeter City this weekend.
What Was Said
Speaking to the Swindon website about re-signing Doyle, chairman Lee Power said: “We’re delighted to have Eoin back.
“It’s been a long, hard negotiation to get him here. I think I can speak for the whole football club and pretty much the whole of Wiltshire that everyone is really excited to see him back in a red shirt.
“I’d also like to put on record that my counterpart at Bradford, Julian Rhodes, and the guys at Bradford, found themselves in an unprecedented situation and nothing would give me greater pleasure than both clubs getting promoted this season. I’ve always had a soft spot for the Bantams since my playing days. I look forward to seeing everyone at the County Ground on Saturday.”
