Roma Sign Barcelona’s Carles Perez
The Deal
Roma announced via their website they had signed the striker. Perez joins on loan for the remainder of the season. Roma will then buy him in the summer for €11 million with an extra €4.5 million should certain add-on clauses be met.
Perez will sign a deal until 2024 in the summer with Barcelona having first refusal on Roma deciding to sell the striker.
The striker made his Barcelona debut in May 2019 and has featured sparingly since. Perez has made 11 appearances this season for Barcelona, scoring two goals. His goal tally includes a Champions League goal against Inter Milan. He will look to test himself in Serie A as Roma push for Champions League football.
What Was Said
Speaking to the Roma website about his move, Perez said: “I know I am leaving a great club like Barcelona, but I’m joining another great club in Rome.
“I’m really happy and I can’t wait to start training alongside my new teammates.”
Roma’s chief executive Guido Fienga added: “We are hugely satisfied with Carles’ arrival in Rome.
“Carles learned his trade in one of the best youth academies in Europe and has been playing for a club with so much talent at its disposal.
“We are all hopeful that he can immediately have a significant role to play within our squad.”
Roma Also Confirm the Signing of Gonzalo Villar
As well as confirming Carles Perez, Roma have also signed Elche midfielder Gonzalo Villar.
