Bolton Wanderers Sign Defender Kean Bryan

The Deal

Bolton announced via their website they had signed the defender. Bryan joins on loan for the remainder of the season as the Trotters try to accumulate as many points as possible.

Bryan arrives looking for game time having struggled to get near the Sheffield United team. He has played over 50 league games playing for the likes of Bury and Oldham Athletic.

He is a product of the Manchester City academy but never made the breakthrough to the senior team. He did captain their development side and, certainly, those skills could be vital at Bolton.

He has been with Sheffield United since 2018 but hasn’t really had a consistent run of games in the Blades team. Chris Wilder used him sparingly and now he wants regular game time.

He arrives at Bolton looking to shore up their defence. The Trotters have struggled for consistency at the back due to the numerous changes. Toto Nsiala and Brandon Fleming have already joined, and Bryan will now need to form a good understanding with them.

Keith Hill will hope to have Kean Bryan available for this weekend’s game against Tranmere Rovers. The club are waiting for clearance from the EFL.

Sheffield United Confirm His Departure

In a statement on their website, Sheffield United confirmed Bryan’s departure.

“Kean Bryan has joined League One side Bolton Wanderers on a loan deal until the end of the season.

“The former Manchester City defender joined United in August 2018, and has made four senior appearances for the club.

“This season the former Bury and Oldham loanee has started three cup games for Chris Wilder’s side, but now joins Keith Hill’s Trotters looking for regular first team football.”
