West Brom Sign Callum Robinson On Loan from Sheffield United
The Deal
West Brom announced on their website they had signed the striker. Robinson arrives on loan for the remainder of the season.
Robinson arrives as Slaven Bilic’s first January signing as the Albion manager looks to enhance his attacking reinforcements.
The 24-year-old is a versatile attacker who can play across any of the attacking positions.
Robinson joined Sheffield United in the summer for then club-record fee and has gone on to make 16 Premier League appearances; however, he has managed just one league goal.
The striker is a full Republic of Ireland international making 12 appearances for his country scoring just once.
He began his career at West Brom’s neighbours Aston Villa before loan spells at Preston North End and Bristol City.
He eventually joined Preston on a permanent deal and over his two spells at Deepdale scored 33 goals in 135 games. Robinson knows how to score goals but has found the transition to the Premier League difficult.
Robinson arrives at West Brom aiming to help the Baggies secure promotion to the top flight. Slaven Bilic has been looking for attacking reinforcements and getting Robinson in is an excellent piece of business.
West Brom remain in the hunt for more players after their disappointing loss to Cardiff City last night (Tuesday 29). Bilic wants a couple more players to boost his squad and continue their charge towards the Premier League.
Robinson certainly brings pace and clinical edge to the West Brom team. He could make his Baggies debut this weekend when West Brom welcome struggling Luton Town to the Hawthorns.
