Championship promotion hunters Sheffield Wednesday have signed striker Alessio Da Cruz on loan from Parma for the rest of the season. The striker is Wednesday’s first January signing as they add more firepower to their attack.

Sheffield Wednesday announced via their website they had signed the striker. Da Cruz arrives on loan for the remainder of the season and becomes the Owls’ first January signing.

Garry Monk has been seeking more firepower in attack after Steven Fletcher’s injury; their top-scorer is still a while away from a return for Monk is relying on Da Cruz.
The 23-year-old is a versatile attacker who can play both centrally and on the flanks.
The striker spent the first half of the season at Serie B side Ascoli; he scored six goals and collected six assists in his 18 games.
He brings pace, goals and creativity and certainly he could be a key figure for Wednesday between now and the end of the season.
The former Netherlands Under 20 international could make his debut this weekend when Wednesday welcome promotion rivals Millwall to Hillsborough.

Speaking to the Owls website about his move, Da Cruz said, “It has always been my dream to play in England and with this opportunity, I am really happy.”
Da Cruz continues: “I am attracted by the fan base of Sheffield Wednesday, a big club in a big league and it will be a big test to see how far I have come as a player.
The striker confirms his versatility. He tells the website, “I like to play second striker or winger; I am a creative player with pace and am looking forward to meeting my teammates and staff”
“I want to be involved straight away if possible and I am ready to play.”
