Tottenham Hotspur have announced the permanent signing of midfielder Giovanni Lo Celso. The Argentine initially arrived on loan from Real Betis in the summer but Spurs have now activated their option to buy him. He becomes Spurs’ second January signing.

The Deal
Giovanni Lo Celso has completed a permanent move to Spurs. The midfielder’s Tottenham started slowly with injuries restricting his appearances, especially under Mauricio Pochettino.
The deal was officially announced on their website with Spurs “delighted” to confirm the deal.
However, the midfielder has become a key player since Jose Mourinho’s arrival. He has made 20 appearances this season scoring twice in the process.
The Argentine midfielder completes a permanent move for an undisclosed fee signing a four- and half-year deal at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium. He has established himself in the Spurs midfield with a string of excellent performances including a match-winning display in Spurs’ cup tie against Middlesbrough.
Giovani Lo Celso is Slowly Proving His Worth
The Argentine international had a difficult start to life in English football with injuries, lack of fitness and match sharpness restricting his game time.
However, as the season has progressed, the midfielder has got better and better. Slowly, he is becoming Jose Mourinho’s key creative figure in the Spurs midfield.
Lo Celso has adapted well to the English game and is forming a good understanding with the likes of Harry Winks, Dele Alli and Heung-Min Son. Mourinho sees him as a key player for Spurs and certainly the long-term deal emphasises his feelings.
He is a cool character and certainly can pick a pass. While we didn’t the best out of him under Mauricio Pochettino, Lo Celso is certainly proving his worth to the Spurs side.
His creative skills and quality on the ball will be vital in the final months of the season as Spurs chase the Champions League places. Mourinho will be delighted to secure a permanent for a man slowly emerging into a vital cog in his Spurs team.
