Juventus and Paris Saint-Germain have agreed on a straight swap deal for defenders Layvin Kurzawa and Mattia De Sciglion, according to Fabrizio Romano.

Lack of Consistent Game time
Both Kurzawa and De Sciglio have had inconsistent game time at their respective clubs. While the Frenchman has had more time on the pitch, De Sciglio’s season has been marred by injury.
The Italian international missed almost two months with a thigh injury and has been out for the past week with a torn abductor muscle. With no confirmed return date, it is likely that De Sciglio will not play for the French champions straight away upon arrival there.
Kurzawa, despite not having been greatly injured, has also missed a fair few games this season. He was absent for two games early in the season due to illness, and also was unavailable more recently because of an unknown injury. He has also been left out of the squad numerous times across the course of the season.
History With their Former Clubs
Neither of these full-backs are playing for their boyhood clubs, but De Sciglio was the more recently transferred of the two.
The man from Italy came to Juventus from another Italian giant, AC Milan, in the summer of 2017. His time in Turin has been haunted by injury, but he has still managed 57 assists there and has been their first choice right back when fit. He also has the versatility to play on the other side of the defence.
Kurzawa came to PSG following an impressive season with Monaco, helping them to a third-place finish. The Frenchman has also suffered from injury while in Paris, most notably at the beginning of last season when he missed the first half due to a herniated disc. He was an inconsistent starter when he first joined the French champions, however, he grew in popularity and eventually earned his place as a regular when fit.
Who Benefits?
While this move may not seem particularly necessary, with both full-backs having had inconstant game time this season, De Sciglio’s current injury status gives PSG a slightly worse draw as they will not be able to play him for his first few weeks in France. This swap deal, however, may be just what both players need. With both having struggled to put together a decent run of games, let alone a run of form, it seems that as Juventus and Paris Saint-Germain complete the swap deal, all parties involved could benefit.
