Leeds United Confirm The Signing Of Ian Poveda From Manchester City
Young Winger
The 19-year-old joins the club having made just one appearance for previous club Manchester City.
He has been a mainstay in City’s U23 side, making six appearances for them during the first half of this season.
Despite his lack of experience, Poveda spent time in Barcelona’s academy as a youngster, as well as Chelsea and Arsenal.
Poveda Ready for Leeds Challenge
Speaking to the Leeds United website on arrival, Poveda said: “I’m very, very pleased, I know that Leeds United are a big club.
“I know Leeds won the league the year before it turned into the Premier League and I believe they should be back there.
“I’m an attacking player, I can play right wing, left wing or in attacking midfield, I like to dribble with the ball, link up the play, score goals, create chances, assist and I work hard for the team.
“I’m very excited to work under Bielsa, I know he improves players and that’s what I’m looking to do under his guidance.
“I met a couple of my teammates when I was going through to have my medical, I’m very happy and they made me feel very welcome.
“I’m here to help the team as much as possible, to get promoted and restore this great club back to where it belongs.”
Leeds boss Marcelo Bielsa will be hoping that his new signing can help their promotion push, as they seek their long-awaited return to the Premier League.
However, they need to return to winning ways. They have lost their last two games in the Championship, and are now just three points ahead of third-placed Fulham, who have 49 points.
