Time To Move On
Despite being a fans’ favourite for much of his time in north London, it is now time for Christian Eriksen to move on.
The 27-year-old has grown frustrated with Spurs. He was denied a move to Real Madrid last season, despite being keen to go. As a result, it meant he entered the last year of his contract unhappy, and at risk of leaving for free in the summer.
Eriksen has been one of Tottenham’s key players throughout his six-year tenure. He grew into his role as an attacking midfielder and was an integral figure in attack. Last season saw him register an impressive 26 goal contributions in all competitions, including ten goals and 16 assists. However, that could not match the 2016/17 season, where he registered a career-best tally of 33 goal contributions.
Tottenham Will Be Fine Without Christian Eriksen
Despite his attacking threat, Tottenham will be more than capable of dealing without the attacking threat of Christian Eriksen.
Under Jose Mourinho, Eriksen has been used sparingly. He is unlikely to have been in the Tottenham manager’s plans, with several players ahead of him. Most recently, Giovani Lo Celso has impressed. His performance against Norwich City was marvellous, playing a key part in the winning goal.
How Will He Fit in at His New Club?
Eriksen possesses a tremendous attacking threat and as a result, is likely to be a key asset to his new club.
However, he needs to rediscover his form of previous seasons. So far this season he has just three goals and three assists, something that his new club will be hoping that can change.
Furthermore, Eriksen’s age is likely to become an issue in the near future. The Dane is currently is edging towards 30-years old, and as a result, his prime years are almost behind him.
