Millwall have completed the signing of Stoke City midfielder Ryan Woods. Woods arrives on loan for the rest of the season.
Millwall Sign Ryan Woods
The Deal
Millwall announced via their website they had signed the Stoke midfielder. Woods arrives on loan for the remainder of the season and becomes Gary Rowett’s first signing as Millwall manager.
Rowett reunites with Woods having signed him for Stoke in 2018. Woods has struggled to settle in the Potteries after a terrific spell at Brentford.
The Lions are enjoying a terrific season and adding Woods gives them extra flair, steel and creativity in central midfield. Woods has been a consistent performer at Championship level for several seasons.
However, Woods has struggled to get into the Stoke team making just eight league appearances this season and has fallen further down since Michael O’Neill took over.
Woods could make his Millwall debut this weekend against Reading.
What Was Said
Speaking to the Millwall website about his move, Woods said: “I’m absolutely delighted to be here. It’s been a frustrating period for me over the last few months, but I’m pleased to get the deal done and can’t wait to get going.
“The lads and the club are doing a great job in the League at the moment, and hopefully I can come and add to that.
“I know Gary and the staff really well and he played a big part in getting me here. I’ve played against a lot of the lads before as well. Hopefully, it will be easy for me to settle in and get going as quickly as possible.
“I’d like to think that I will add a bit of composure on the ball and have a decent range of passing. I’ll always give 110% and let the fans and the club be the judge of my performances.
“I’m raring to go. I’ve missed the last six or seven matches, so my match fitness may be different, but I played the six or seven before that. Hopefully, I can go straight in.”
