Huddersfield Town have signed Lincoln City defender Harry Toffolo on a permanent deal. The defender arrives as the Terriers fourth January signing.
Huddersfield Sign Harry Toffolo From Lincoln City
The Deal
Toffolo arrives for an undisclosed fee signing a deal until 2022. The defender has been a fixture in the Lincoln since Danny Cowley signed him for the Imps.
He makes the step up to the Championship as he reunites with the Cowley brothers. Danny Cowley continues to mould and shape the Huddersfield squad with several new additions and a few departures.
Toffolo has been a regular in the Football League for several seasons but now gets the opportunity to play consistently in the Championship.
Since joining Lincoln in 2018, Toffolo has excelled and helped the Imps win the League Two title.
Tomorrow’s game with Brentford may come too soon for his debut. He is more likely to make his debut in Huddersfield’s league game with Hull City on the 28th January.
What Was Said
Speaking to the Huddersfield website about his new signing, manager Danny Cowley said: “Harry is a boy we know really well; one of the best human beings we have ever worked with.
“He’s made some outstanding progress in the last 18 months and I don’t think any professional footballer has worked harder for this opportunity than him.
“He’s diligent, a great learner and has an A* work ethic and attitude. These are essential qualities that we look for in players.
“As a left-back, he respects both sides of the game. He’s very good in offensive moments, a strong runner, likes to overlap and enjoys getting into advanced areas. Most importantly, defensively, he’s physical, robust, a good one vs one defender and defends the back post well.
“He’s on an upwards curve and has earnt the right to play at this level.”
