Experienced Central Midfielder
O’Connor is the second player to make the move between the two clubs, following Bruno Andrade’s move to Salford.
The 32-year-old is an experienced central midfielder in the Football League; the Ammies will be O’Connor’s seventh club of his career.
Having begun his career with Crewe Alexandra, O’Connor spent three seasons at Gresty Road before joining Scunthorpe United in 2009.
He then spent another three seasons with Scunthorpe, suffering the heartbreak of relegation before stepping down to League Two to join Rotherham United, where he helped the Millers seal promotion.
After Rotherham, O’Connor had two-year spells with both Port Vale and Notts County, before making the move to Lincoln City, a club where he had a loan spell earlier in his career.
The 32-year-old then helped the Imps achieve promotion in his first season. So far this season he has made 20 appearances in all competitions, scoring just once.
What Was Said
Speaking to the official Salford City website, the midfielder said: “I’ve come here with the belief that I can help the team push on trying to get to the play-offs this year.
“I’ve been around League Two, I’ve had two promotions from League Two, I know what it takes to get promotion from this league.
“I’m looking forward to it, it’s another challenge for me and I look forward to challenges.”
Salford currently face a difficult ask in reaching the play-offs this year. They sit in 14th place, 12 points off of the play-off places.
Graham Alexander’s side face Forest Green Rovers in their next game, before hosting local rivals Oldham Athletic in League Two.
