Morecambe have confirmed that they have signed goalkeeper Christoffer Mafoumbi on loan until the end of the season.
Morecambe Sign Christoffer Mafoumbi on Loan From Blackpool
Looking for Game Time
The 25-year-old joins on loan from League One club Blackpool, where has seen limited game time.
During his two-and-a-half-year spell with the Tangerines, he has featured 27 times in all competitions.
So far this season featured only in cup competitions, making one appearance in the EFL Cup and two in the Leasing.com Trophy.
As a result, a move to League Two side Morecambe will hopefully provide Mafoumbi with valuable game time.
The Shrimpers will be Mafoumbi’s second English club, having spent most of his career abroad.
Capped by his national side Congo, Mafoumbi played for Lens B and Le Pontet in France during the early stages of his career, before having single-season spells with Bulgarian club Vereya and South African side Free State Stars.
Fifth January Signing Signals AaBusy Window
The arrival of Mafoumbi on loan signals the fifth signing of the window for Morecambe manager Derek Adams.
Adams signed the Burnley duo of Adam Phillips and Ryan Cooney on loan until the end of the season.
He has also made two permanent additions with the arrival of Jordan Slew and Toumani Diagouraga, who previously featured for Adams at Plymouth Argyle.
The Morecambe boss will be hoping that his new arrivals can help steer the club away from the relegation zone.
Adams’ side currently sit just one place above the League Two drop zone on 22 points, three points ahead of bottom-placed Stevenage.
They will be hoping that their form can continue into this weekend against Northampton Town. The Shrimpers have not lost their previous two games, winning 2-1 against Port Vale and sealing an impressive 1-1 draw against play-off contenders Colchester United.
