Ipswich Town Sign Josh Earl

Ipswich announced via their website they had signed the full-back on loan. Earl will spend the second half of the season at Ipswich after spending the first half at Bolton Wanderers.

The defender has made just 16 appearances for parent club Preston since signing his professional deal in 2017.

The left-back will be hoping to catch Preston’s eye while at Ipswich having struggled at Bolton.

What Was Said

Speaking to the Ipswich website about his move, Earl said “The move came around quite quickly, I got told on the Friday that I was possibly moving down to Ipswich on Sunday and I’m here now and can’t wait to get started,”

“I watched the game back and the lads played really well on Saturday, so hopefully we can carry that form into tomorrow’s match at Oxford.”

“I feel as though it’s a great squad and the only aim for everyone this season is to push for the top two.”

Earl arrives as Paul Lambert’s first addition this window. The Ipswich manager has been chasing a left-sided defender. He will be delighted to have that position sorted.

Earl could make his debut when Ipswich face promotion rivals Oxford United in a crucial game.

Earl Aiming to Make A Good Impression

The Preston youngster struggled at Bolton. The full-back made just 11 appearances for the Trotters.

An ankle injury disrupted his time at Bolton but, he will be hoping to make a much better impression at Ipswich.

Paul Lambert’s team have been lacking options at the back and Earl will be hoping to push for a starting place as Ipswich push for promotion.
