Wolverhampton Wanderers striker Patrick Cutrone is set to join Serie A side Fiorentina on an 18-month loan deal, according to Fabrizio Romano of The Guardian,
Wolves Forward Patrick Cutrone Set to Join Fiorentina on Loan
Struggled to Adapt
The move comes just five months after the 22-year-old joined Wolves.
Cutrone has struggled to adapt to his new surroundings and, as a result, has been limited in his playing time.
So far this season he has made 20 appearances; however, the majority of those have come in cup competitions or off of the bench.
He has also only registered three goals in all competitions, a tally that has failed to dislodge Raul Jimenez and Diogo Jota, two strikers ahead of him at Wolves. Jimenez has scored 11 times for Wolves this season, while Jota has registered six times in all competitions.
As a result, he has not lived up to the expectations of Nuno Espirito Santo after joining from AC Milan.
Loan With Option to Buy
The Italian striker will initially join Fiorentina on an 18-month loan deal. However, the Serie A club reportedly have an option to buy him come the end of that spell.
Fiorentina currently lie in 15th place in Serie A, just four points ahead of the relegation zone.
They have struggled for goals this season, with just 22 from 18 games in the league this season.
As a result, Fiorentina will be hoping that Cutrone can hit the ground running. Their top scorer so far this season is Gaetano Castrovilli with just three goals in 17 matches.
However, Cutrone himself has not been a prolific goalscorer in recent season. He has failed to match the 16 goals that he has scored in 2017/18 season, scoring only nine last season and registering just three so far this season.
Fiorentina face bottom side SPAL in their next Serie A fixture.
