Well Travelled

Oldham announced on their website that they had completed the signing of Piergianni earlier today. The much-travelled centre half arrives aiming to shore up a leaky Oldham backline. Piergianni has settled into the Football League very well having spent much of his career in non-league and was a vital part of Salford City’s rise through non-league football.

Piergianni still has his best years ahead at 27-years-old. Starting his career with Peterborough United, the centre half has played in non-league and Australia. He became a leader, legend and fans favourite at Oldham’s league rivals Salford but has recently lost his place in the Ammies team.

Salford fans may be extremely disappointed to lose their influential defender but with game-time limited, Piergianni may see some merit in the move. Ultimately, he will fancy the challenge of ensuring Oldham’s Football League safety. Head Coach Dino Maamria is delighted to have the defender on board calling him “a solid defender and team player” as well as a “leader”.

Piergianni could make his Oldham debut this weekend when they travel to fellow strugglers Macclesfield Town, who are just three points and two places behind the Latics in the League Two table.

As Carl Piergianni Arrives, Chris Eagles Departs

Oldham announced earlier in the day that experienced winger Chris Eagles had left the club by mutual consent. The former Manchester United and Burnley winger only joined in the summer and went on to make 18 appearances for the Latics.
