It has been an amazing first half of the season for Sheffield United and Chris Wilder. The Blades have looked right at home in the Premier League and find themselves fifth in the table with 28 points from 18 games. They are also unbeaten away from home – a feat only matched by runaway leaders Liverpool. However, despite their tremendous start to the season, Chris Wilder wants to add two or three new players during the winter window, according to the Sheffield Star’s James Shield.
Sheffield United Expected to Be Busy in January
Chris Wilder Wants Two or Three New Additions to His Squad
The Blades generally signed players from the Premier League and Football League during the summer window and expect Wilder to do the same in January.
The former Oxford United and Northampton Town boss’ team have enjoyed a sensational first half of the season following their promotion to the top flight. The Blades are very much in the race for European football and Wilder is determined to maintain their terrific form. The manager openly admitted ‘‘We’re still looking’’ when speaking about the January transfer window. He also went on to suggest that the Blades won’t be splashing the cash, insisting: ‘‘It won’t be head-turning numbers’’.
Wilder Wants to Strengthen Certain Areas
The Blades will be actively looking to do business in January with Wilder wanting to strengthen certain areas of his team. Speaking ahead of the window, Wilder noted: “There are a couple of key positions where we need to strengthen. We need to do it and the board know that.”
It has been a tremendous campaign thus far for Sheffield United. European football is certainly not out of their reach and a few additions in January could make the Blades even more of a force.
