Ligue 1 Predictions: Teenage Starlet Eduardo Camavinga Snatches Late Winner for Rennes

Eduardo Camavinga

Another pulsating round of Ligue 1 matches has come to an end, with plenty of talking points and exciting action. Paris Saint-Germain extended their lead to seven points in style, Reims collected a third straight league win and there were huge wins for Lille, Nantes, Strasbourg and Rennes.

Ligue 1 Predictions

Eduardo Camavinga Snatches Late Win for Rennes

Rennes secured a fourth straight win with a late victory at Lyon. Seventeen-year-old Eduardo Camavinga scored the decisive goal as Rennes march towards the Champions League places. Julian Stephan’s team have found their groove and are only heading in one direction.

It was a bad night in more ways than one for Lyon and Rudi Garcia. They suffered a disappointing defeat to a rival in the race for Champions League race and lost both Memphis Depay and Jeff Reine-Adelaide to injury. Both players suffered suspected broken legs during a miserable night for Les Gones. That would end their seasons and that is a huge blow for Garcia.

Four straight league wins for Rennes has propelled them to fourth. A second defeat in three games sees Lyon sit eighth, six points off the Champions League places.

Lille Edge Out Montpellier to Secure a Fourth Straight League Win

Lille continued their excellent league form thanks to a late winner from Renato Sanches. The Portuguese international has struggled since leaving his home nation but we saw glimpses of the talent he has. He was outstanding against Montpellier and fully deserved his goal.

More frustration for Michel Der Zakarian with his team architects of their own downfall for a second consecutive league game. They gave away a cheap penalty converted by Jonathan Ikone but saw a point snatched away by Sanches. Andy Delort did notch a sixth of the season, but it was meaningless in the end.

Lille’s fourth straight league win puts Christophe Galtier’s side third. A run of one win in five games has seen Montpellier drop to 12th.
