Aston Villa have announced manager Dean Smith has signed a new four-year contract. The lifelong Villa fan took over in October 2018 following Steve Bruce’s sacking. He has taken Aston Villa back to the Premier League and now wants to bring top-flight stability to his boyhood club.

Dean Smith arrived in October 2018 after a terrific spell at Brentford. A job cropped up that even he couldn’t resist. The rest is history since his appointment. Smith has energised the whole football club with his enthusiasm and attacking style of football.
The victory at Wembley in the play-off final was down to hard work and a record-breaking winning run. Villa have started well back in the Premier League, amassing 14 points from their 13 games. Their performances have certainly warranted more points and Smith will be determined to stabilise Villa in the league. He has been a breath of fresh air and optimises the excitement surrounding the club. He oozes Aston Villa, whether that be in press conferences, post-match interviews or interviews with the club. The fans have someone they can relate to. Four more years is the icing on the cake for his dedication and passion for Villa.
The club is on the up and with Smith at the helm, the possibilities are endless. He is a modest man and regularly notes the importance of his coaching team. Richard O’Kelly and John Terry have been terrific allies alongside him and have formed a fantastic relationship.

Jack Grealish has gone to another level since Smith arrived. Giving him the captaincy was a stroke of genius with the Villa captain taking the responsibility in his stride. John McGinn and Tyrone Mings have also improved their game and are regular internationals who are only getting better.
