Liverpool head to Crystal Palace looking to extend their terrific unbeaten run in the Premier League. Jurgen Klopp’s team will be hoping to maintain their eight-point lead at the top. However, he faces a mini injury crisis as they begin their hectic run of fixtures to end 2019, with Mohamed Salah and Andy Robertson facing a battle to be fit.
Liverpool Potentially Missing Mohamed Salah and Andy Robertson for Crystal Palace Clash
Mohamed Salah and Andrew Robertson Lead the Injury List
Jurgen Klopp is facing an injury crisis with four senior players expected to miss the trip to Crystal Palace. Mohamed Salah has been nursing an ankle injury for some time. Salah was caught on the ankle by Hamza Choudhury in their narrow win against Leicester City back in October.
The Egyptian has struggled to find full fitness since then and, with a heavy load of fixtures to come, Klopp will want his star man fit and ready. In addition, Andy Robertson is also expected to miss the trip to Selhurst Park. The full-back, like Salah, is also nursing an ankle injury. Robertson withdrew from the Scotland squad and has rested for the last two weeks. Klopp is likely to use James Milner at left-back should Robertson fail a fitness test.
Liverpool’s defensive injuries are growing, with Joe Gomez also a doubt for the Palace game. The England international missed England’s game with Kosovo due to a knee injury. There is a silver lining for Klopp with a scan revealing no lasting damage to Gomez’s knee, but Joel Matip’s knee injury is causing sleepless nights for the Liverpool boss. The Cameroon international hasn’t played since the draw with Manchester United. Matip is expected to miss Liverpool’s trip to Palace.
Jordan Henderson is available to Klopp after the Liverpool captain recovered from an illness which saw him sit out England’s game with Kosovo.
Despite the Injuries, Things are Looking Good for Liverpool
Despite Jurgen Klopp’s growing injury list, there is still a real buzz around the whole football club. Liverpool have announced plans for a new training ground and revealed expansion plans for Anfield.
Liverpool are on track to move to their new Kirkby training ground in the summer of 2020. Work has begun on the new complex after plans were approved by the council. Features include a large indoor pitch, a new academy centre and indoor halls and pools. It will cost £50 million.
The club has also begun the first stages of consultation with the local community regarding expansion to the Anfield Road stand. The community will see the development plans and get an opportunity to express their views to the Liverpool hierarchy. The meeting will take place on November 29.
